Historic Sheridan Inn
This building of 69 gables is a
National Historic Landmark,
once considered the finest hotel
between Chicago and San
Francisco. It was frequented by
Buffalo Bill Cody who auditioned
acts for his famous Wild
West Show from the porch of
the grand old building.
The Inn originally opened in
1893 with the coming of the
railroad. Since then it has catered
to all the great names of
the west. The Inn was in Ripley’s“Believe it or Not” as the “House of 69 Gables.” The Inn
is open year round for tours.

Downtown
A self-guided walking tour
brochure guides you through
a walking tour of the historic
business district of Sheridan.
This tour is designed by the
Downtown Sheridan Association,
a nonprofit organization
dedicated to the preservation of
our historic downtown.
This walking tour has been
designed so that one may proceed
from the Trolley Car Park
south on Main, cross the street
and return north on Main Street
back to Trolley Car Park.
