LANDER WYOMING AREA
The Lander area has 118 miles of groomed trails through scenic-forested
mountains. Excellent ice fishing can be enjoyed in beautiful mountain
lakes along the trails. Average snow depth runs from three to six
feet. Complete facilities and services are available in Lander and
food, and lodging are available in the Atlantic City/South Pass area.
Louis Lake Lodge offers services along the trail system between Bruces’ Bridge
Parking Area and the South Pass Parking area.
To reach the Bruce’s Bridge Parking Area take a left off of
Lander’s Main Street at 9th Street and follow the signs for
Sinks Canyon State Park on Wyoming Highway 131. Take time at some
point to check out the natural wonders of the “The Rise” and “ The
Sinks” as you drive up the canyon.
The
CDST follows the Loop Road (Closed to vehicles from November til
May) for much of it’s course in this area. Side trails will
take you to Worthen Meadows Reservoir, Maxon Basin and Christina
Lake.
Lakes offering ice fishing in this area include: Christina, Worthen
Meadows Reservoir, Fiddlers Lake and Louis Lake.
The South Pass
parking area is located where the Loop Rd. connects into Wyoming
Highway 28. Trails from here connect to the CDST and
to Atlantic City, a few more miles to the south. Atlantic City
has lodging and two place to get hearty meals and drinks.
